LIVE REVIEW

SIGUE SIGUE SPUTNIK
THE GARAGE, HIGHBURY, LONDON 17TH FEBRUARY 2001

Firstly, this isn't the best review I have ever written as there was quite a lot going on and I didn't actually see a lot of the set.

OK OK I know I said I was probably not going, well, probably was the operative word and after much rushing around I was able to make it to the venue by 8.00pm. I think I was probably the last one to arrive, the first of the two truly terrible support acts were playing as I went and said hi to all the familiar faces in the crowd.

Chris Damien Doll - are you there mate?? Let me tell you that The Trashcans would have blown this crowd away.

The Sputnik's took to the stage at about 9.30pm, Lisa was on first to whip the crowd up ready for the boys. Tony was dressed as at the Bedford gig, Neal in that grey suit again with blue shoes and, at last, Martin had dumped that bloody Elvis t shirt and was in a yellow shirt and blue suit. This set list contains all the songs performed but probably not in the right order...aNNIe would normally put me right but seeing as she is recovering after some wanker smacked her in the face I'm not going to pester her about it!!

CLOCKWORK ORANGE
SEX BOMB BOOGIE
EVERYBODY LOVES U
21ST CENTURY BOY
ALIEN CHRIST
TEENAGE THUNDER/GHOST RIDER/MAD
DEMON SEED
ALIEN@TION
JAYNE MANSFIELD
SLAVE TRADE
LOVE MISSILE F1-11
VIRGINIA PLAIN
REBEL REBEL
HOW DO YOU DREAM LITTLE CEASER
SUCCESS (at least I think they played it???)
ROCKIT MISS USA

If anyone wants to set me straight as regards to the set list then please do so. Rebel Rebel really rocked, much much better than The Albert Hall version or the recording. Virginia Plain was so so but best for me was Little Caesar (I know Jon...) which was unfortunately cut short because Martin forgot the words. The medley earlier in the set was also a bold experiment and certainly gave the lads an eyeful of Lisa.

There's not really too much else to tell because, as I said, I didn't actually watch much of the set, thanks mostly to the wankers down the front who seemed determined to cause as much disruption as possible. As much as I like SSS they AREN'T as important as making sure an injured pal is OK. I'm sure there are more detailed reviews posted elsewhere on the net. One thing I can say is that the band really rocked and put on a very energetic performance.
